Rick Shiers
Artist Bio
Rick Shiers has been a professional freelance illustrator, painter and art educator since graduating Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in 1988. He’s taught painting and illustration to children, adolescents and adults through classes and workshops (with over ten combined years of teaching in the RISD CE program). He strives to share his wisdom as an educator, hoping to advance fellow artists with a collaborative, nurturing and lighthearted approach to instruction.
Comfortable in most media, his personal exploration in fine art painting includes oils, watercolors, gouache and acrylics. Subject matter varies by whim, but landscapes and still life dominate the repertoire. Although stylistically diverse, his current paintings emphasize dynamic impressionism and bold brushwork.
