Artist Bio

Painting has always been my passion and the medium through which I document and reflect on the experiences of my life. Whether capturing portraits, places, fleeting moments, or deeper emotional truths, painting has granted me insight into when truly matters.

My current focus is to explore the essential human need to relate to one another, to our communities, to spiritual beliefs, to ideas, and to places. I hope to highlight the richness and meaning we derive from our relationships. For me, connection is deeply personal and manifests differently for each individual.

I am of Cuban descent and grew up in the Boston area. I studied Environmental Design at the New England School of Art & Design and went on to practice Interior Architecture for over 30 years, most recently at the global firm Gensler. Despite this career, painting has always remained my true calling.

In 2022, I began a new chapter as Artist Director for Arts for Humanity, a Boston-based nonprofit and the city'd largest employer of teens in the arts, empowering youth from under-resourced communities through creative work.

My artistic training includes studies at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York, along with workshops with artists such as Wolf Kahn, Alex Kanevsky, John Michael Carter, Christopher Zhang, Anna Mogilevsky, Tim Hawksworth, Elias Rivera, and Dean Fisher. I have also been exhibiting artist and committee members at the Imago Foundation for the Arts in Rhode Island, where I served as president for a number of years.
